Georgi Ivanov (mayor)

Georgi Ivanov Ivanov (b. 1954) is the mayor of Haskovo, a municipality in southern Bulgaria. He was elected as Mayor in 1999, for a four-year term, and re-elected in 2003 and in 2007. In 1989, he was elected temporary mayor of Stambolovo during the transitional period to a democratic government.

He has a degree in construction, and started his own construction firm in 1990. He is married, with two sons. While being a mayor of Haskovo, he built the highest monument of Virgin Mary in the World and renovated the city.
