Georges P. Vanier Secondary is a public high school in Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada. It is part of School District 71 Comox Valley. Although the principal of the school is technically Lori Carpenter, the school's current reigning monarch is actually Tom Nixon.
The school is located close to downtown Courtenay, and boasts an auto shop, metal shop, carpentry classes as well as a house building program for Habitat for Humanity. The library is fully stocked with everything a student could need, From infomative study materials, to a wide aray of interesting and engrossing literature read for the fun of it. this was also one of the first school on vancouver island to start stocking Manga and other graphic novels.
G.P. Senior Secondary's Graduation festivities are also somewhat unique. Instead of the usual Prom dance and party, Vanier has a graduation tradition of The Cruise. The Powel River ferry is loaded with games, activities and food to give the students a dry, safe grad night. some of the activities include a mechanicle bull, inflatable obstacle course, many games for small prizes and candy, a dance room with a DJ, a fuly loaded cafeteria open for free all night, kareoke, and a virgin bar.
