George "Spanky" McCurdy

George "Spanky" McCurdy is a gospel/soul/pop/hip-hop drummer who is most known for his play with Tye Tribbett & G.A. "Spanky" has also played for Justin Timberlake, P. Diddy, Kanye West, Floetry, and Nas just to name a few. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he is known for his innovative drumming style. At the age of 13, McCurdy was playing for local acts. By the age of 20 his name among gospel drummers was up there with the likes of Calvin Rodges, Marvin McQuitty, Calvin Napper, and Ladell Abrams.

"Spank" as Tye Tribbett has called him, made his big debut on the Tye Tribbett & G.A. album, Life, released June 8, 2004. This 16 track studio recording gives a great look a great look at his unique approach to drumming. Tracks such as "No Way", "My Joy", and "Struggle" show his innovation and creative mindset for shedding. He is known for his unique and catchy style, along with his excellent timing.
