George Travers was a professional footballer, who played as a forward for several English sides prior to and just after the First World War.

He joined Barnsley sometime prior to 1912. He played in the 1912 FA Cup Final [1] which Barnsley won 1-0 extra time of the replay match after the first game ended goaless. The Manchester Guardian praised his shots at goal in the replay match.[2]
In February 1914 he transferred to Manchester United. Whom he played a total of 21 games for, scoring 4 goals. After the war he joined Swindon.[3]
