George Terry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
George Terry is an American blues rock and rock and roll guitarist most known for his live and studio work with Eric Clapton during the 1970s and studio work with a long list of artists.
Coming from a studio background, George Terry and the studio musicians at Criteria Studios had jam sessions with Eric Clapton that evolved into the recording of the 461 Ocean Boulevard album starting in 1973. The session players were replaced by a rhythm section put together by Carl Radle in Oklahoma. The album was released in 1974 and Eric asked George to start a band with the Oklahoma musicians. Clapton recorded four of George's songs, "Mainline Florida", "Lay Down Sally", "Don't Blame Me", and "Beauty Spot" that was later renamed "Let Me Stay" and is on George's Guitar Drive solo CD. George left the band before the remaining musicians were fired in 1979.
George's song "What'll I Do" with the Bellamy Brothers received airplay and the Bellamy Brothers were nominated at the CMA awards for vocal duo of the year.
