George Street, Oxford

George Street is a street in central Oxford, England. It is a shopping street running east-west. At its eastern end, it meets Cornmarket Street to the south, Broad Street to the east and Magdalen Street to the north.
The New Theatre Oxford (also known as the Apollo Theatre), Oxford's main commercial theatre, is in the street and the Burton Taylor Theatre is nearby. At number 40 on the north side there is the Old Fire Station Theatre.
Oxford's bus station is off the north of George Street at the western end. Companies such as the Oxford Bus Company operate services from here.
The original branch of the Kebab Kid, known for its chicken kebabs, is located on this street, opposite the Odeon cinema.

The Victorian photographer Henry Taunt lived at 67 George Street.
The City of Oxford High School for Boys was located in this street until 1966, on the corner with New Inn Hall Street. It is now the Sociology Department of Oxford University.
