George Logan Pettit (born on October 2, 1982 in Grimsby, Ontario), is the lead vocalist and frontman of the Canadian band Alexisonfire. He is known for his unique screaming style and offbeat lyrics as well as his energetic onstage parade, usually wearing tiny shorts and diving into the crowd. His trademark look consisted of long hair and thick black rimmed sunglasses, though he cut his hair shortly after the band received commercial success.

George's vocals have changed slightly over Alexisonfire's albums. On the band's debut self-titled album, he usually screams words one syllable at a time, and wrote lyrics that often made little to no sense. On the band's second album, Watch Out!, his vocals are deeper and more understandable, and somewhat take the back-seat to Dallas' vocals in most songs. The third album has more energy and drive, and George's vocals became stronger and more understandable and took more of a role in the music.

George was also involved in a side project with Wade McNeil (one of the guitarists of Alexisonfire) and two members from the band Jersey; Jordan "Ratbeard" Hastings (current drummer for Alexisonfire) and Sean McNabb, called The Black Lungs. Pettit played the bass guitar for this short lived punk quartet. After the band broke up, Wade McNeil took the name The Black Lungs for his solo project. George now has a side project called The Bergenfield Four (with members of Attack in Black and Fucked Up) in which he plays guitar. The Bergenfield Four did their first show in Toronto, Ontario at the El Mocombo, in the fall of 2006 and put out a four song 7" demo in April 2007.

Pettit was a juror on two episodes of Video On Trial, a television show on MuchMusic where 5 jurors critique and poke fun at selected music videos, and sentence musical artists and bands.

George's favourite movies include Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me and Happiness and his favourite books are The Pornographer's Poem and House of Leaves.

Pettit is an avid record collector as well as a DJ, taking tips from the great DJ King Tubby. He is also known for his diverse music taste ranging from Rick James and Nancy Sinatra to The Screamers.

[edit] Personal Life

George grew up in the 'Gateway to Niagara' town of Grimsby. He attended Lakeview Public School for his elementary years, and Grimsby Secondary School where he began to realise his dream of becoming a rock artist through various small gigs throughout the area.

[edit] Trivia

  • This past year George was listed as number 8 on the Much Musics Hottest Guys List and has also appeared on Chart Magazines 20 Sexiest Canadian Musicians list.
  • Has a guest appearance in the Cancer Bats music video for 100 Grand Canyon and also does guest vocals on the studio track and appearance in the video for Pneumonia Hawk.
