[edit] World Wrestling Entertainment (2006-2008)

Shortly after becoming a wrestler, Murdoch was immediately signed to a WWE developmental contract and was assigned to Deep South Wrestling (DSW). Shortly after debuting for the territory, Murdoch began wrestling under the name G-Rilla, a gangsta thug gimmick for several months in DSW as the enforcer of the heel tag team Urban Assault, which was composed of Eric Perez and Sonny Siaki. After a few weeks with the team, G-Rilla turned on his comrades by aiding The Gymini win a tag team match against Urban Assault. During December 2006, Murdoch wrestled two dark matches against Scotty 2 Hotty at the SmackDown! / ECW house shows while using his real name. Murdoch won the first match against Scotty, but lost the second. In late January, G-Rilla formed a tag team with the Freakin' Deacon and has added a sort of Dusty Rhodes-esque flamboyant mentality to his original gangsta gimmick, thus becoming a face. In addition to his tag team career, G-Rilla went onto a singles career as well, easily winning his matches after several weeks before engaging with Mike Knox in a short feud which ended in a disqualification win for G-Rilla after Knox used a steel chair on him. However, the team was disbanded after only a few weeks due to Deacon (now renamed as Festus Dalton) being promoted to the SmackDown! roster along with Ray Gordy.

After the closure of DSW, G-Rilla was moved to the brand new WWE developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), along with some of his fellow DSW wrestlers, including the Samoan Fight Club (previously known as the Urban Assault), which was Afa, Jr. and Sonny Siaki. The Samoan Fight Club dissolved on September 15, 2007, when Siaki was released from his WWE developmental contract to tend to family issues. On the same day that Siaki was released, G-Rilla won a number 1 contender battle royal, lastly eliminating former FCW and OVW wrestler Teddy Hart. With this win, G-Rilla earned the number 1 contendership to Harry Smith's FCW Southern Heavyweight Championship. On September 25, 2007, G-Rilla was unable to win the FCW Southern Heavyweight Championship from Harry Smith after Teddy Hart interfered in the match, resulting in a disqualification. On February 4, 2008 news surfaced that Murdoch, along with many others, had been released from their WWE developmental contracts.
