George Ralph Mrkonic (born December 17, 1929 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania) was an American football player.
Mrkonic played with the University of Kansas for three season, from 1950 to 1952. In those seasons the 6 feet 2 inch, 225 pound Mrkonic was on the line, both offense and defense, the Jayhawks put together a 21-9 record. They finished 8-2 in 1951, the year he was selected at an All-American.
He was drafted by the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles in the 1953 NFL Draft, in the 4th round, 45th overall, and played ten games with them that season. In 1956 he tried the Canadian Football League, playing only one game with the BC Lions.
