From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
George Marsden (June 28, 1869 — January 7, 1938) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and leg-break bowler who played for Derbyshire between 1894 and 1898. He was born in Wirksworth.
Marsden represented Derbyshire in several friendly matches prior to their step up to the County Championship, when he made his debut in league competition against Warwickshire in June 1895.
Marsden was most prominent during the 1896 season, in which Derbyshire finished seventh in the table, but over the next two years, he played merely four times, while in his final game, at the age of 29, he scored just one run from two innings. Marsden was an upper-order batsman for the Derbyshire team.
Marsden died in Cape Province, South Africa, at the age of 68.
