George King (January 23, 1919 - July 12, 1997) was born in Wellington in the English county of Shropshire. He claimed that as a child he had discovered an ability to heal through the radiation of spiritual power. This ostensible discovery would come to define his adult life.

He served with distinction in the National Fire Service in London during the war. After it ended he decided to throw himself into the study of Yoga, especially its higher forms, which he would practice for 8 to 12 hours a day despite holding down full-time jobs. He became known as a healer and psychic and, with a group of other like-minded people, was attempting to find a cure for cancer.

In 1954, he had an experience that was to change his life. One Saturday morning in May, while drying some dishes, a loud, apparently physical voice told him: "Prepare yourself! You are to become the Voice of Interplanetary Parliament." While he had no inkling what this could mean, he knew that this message was something he could not ignore. He stopped his job as a taxi driver and founded a new religious movement, the Aetherius Society to convey the messages of these extraterrestrials.[1]

The degree of Doctor of Divinity was conferred on him in the early 1960s by an American religious organisation, after he went to the United States in 1959. There he founded the American Headquarters of The Aetherius Society. For the rest of life the USA was to be his main abode, though he would spend time at other centres of the Society, principally London. He and George Adamski, are probably the best-remembered of the early 1950s contactees. Others included Truman Bethurum, Orfeo Angelucci, Buck Nelson, George Van Tassel and Daniel Fry. Like almost all the other contactees of the era, he taught that all the solar planets were inhabited by superhuman but manlike beings of tremendous spiritual development.

[edit] History

George King was the designated Primary Terrestrial Mental Channel for great and evolved extraterrestrial Intelligences, and a Western Master of Yoga. He was Founder-President of The Aetherius Society, an inventor, author, lecturer, and widely acclaimed spiritual teacher.

He was born in Wellington, Shropshire, on January 23, 1919 to George and Mary King. Much of his childhood was spent in North Yorkshire. Throughout his life he retained the down-to-earth common sense, no-nonsense dealings, and plain speaking that are generally thought part of the Yorkshire character.

Both his mother and grandmother were natural psychics. His grandmother was an outstanding and well-known medium who recognised a similar talent in her grandson and helped him enormously.

In his book about spiritual healing, You Too Can Heal, published in 1976, he records how at eleven years old, when his mother was seriously ill and confined to her bed, he went alone into the woods and began to pray passionately for her recovery. As he did so an angelic being appeared before him, and instructed him to return home, for his mother had been healed. He arrived back to find his mother up and well.

On the sands between Redcar and Marske he became fascinated by car races. He was later to become an expert driver of cars and motorcycles.

When war broke out in 1939 he was already in the Fire Service as a part-time volunteer, subsequently becoming Section Leader in an emergency task force. In 1940 he participated in the Dunkirk evacuation on the crew of a Thames fire float, and served in the aftermath of the London Blitz which followed — a demanding and sometimes harrowing experience, calling on his innate qualities of bravery and endurance. One air raid on December 29 of that year was so severe that a quarter of the City of London was set ablaze — the biggest fire since the Great Fire of London in 1666.

When hostilities ceased, the young George King, still only 26, began to study Yoga — especially the higher forms, which focus especially on mental and spiritual development — and various healing arts. In his book You Are Responsible! he recounts how one Saturday morning in May 1954 while in his small flat in Maida Vale, London, he physically heard a loud, commanding voice instructing him to "Prepare yourself! You are to become the Voice of Interplanetary Parliament."

Shortly afterwards he channelled the first message transmission purporting to come from an advanced spiritual being living on Venus and using the pseudonym "Aetherius".

George King adopted what he described as a "positive" form of trance in order to enter the state necessary to channel these messages. He contrasted this state with the "negative" form of trance adopted by many spiritualist mediums. The "positive" form of trance was, he said, the result of intense effort and concentration. He used techniques drawn from some of the advanced branches of yoga to concentrate upon one of the psychic centres or chakras connected to the spine and upon the telepathic impulses radiated by his communicators.

George King gave away his possessions, more or less down to the clothes he stood up in, as a new life began. Transmissions continued to come. Often they were arranged in advance and they were generally tape-recorded. Many were given in front of public audiences, the Caxton Hall in London being a regular venue.

Most of the tape-recordings were preserved, although some of the early ones are no longer extant. The recordings are in the possession of the organisation he founded in 1956 called The Aetherius Society and some can be purchased. The Society was named after the first communicator to speak through him, code-named Aetherius.

The trance condition that George King adopted was, he said, extremely stressful mentally and physically, and potentially very dangerous to enter in public, because of the risks of a louds noise or physical blow startling him out of it. By the time he stopped taking transmissions in this way, in the late 1970s, he had taken over 600.

Some of the messages they gave — the dangers of atomic experimentation, a new religious philosophy, the reality of life on other worlds — were sent to the world’s media and governments.

On July 23, 1958 George King claimed to have had a physical contact with an extraterrestrial being who had had one life on Earth, as Jesus. This contact occurred on top of Holdstone Down, in North Devon, England. During this contact, he said, great power had been sent out, specifically to prevent a war brewing in the Lebanon; this had also caused the hill itself to be charged with spiritual energy. Holdstone Down is now a regular place of pilgrimage for members of The Aetherius Society.

Within a few days George King channelled the first of a series of "message transmissions" from the "Master Jesus" called The Twelve Blessings. Delivered in the basement chapel of The Aetherius Society’s new premises on Fulham Road, London, the Blessings are now a central component in the spiritual teaching and practices of the Society.

Holdstone Down proved to be the first of 19 mountains around the world charged in what became known as Operation Starlight. Following the charging of the second mountain on Bodmin Moor in England, George King said that he heard a mighty voice deliver "the Lord’s Declaration", prophesying the coming to Earth of the "Next Master" — an open landing of an extraterrestrial being. Seven more mountains were charged in the British Isles.

Landing in New York in June 1959, George King set out to lecture and broadcast his way across this continent, setting up Branches and Groups of the Society as he did so. In Los Angeles he founded the American Headquarters of The Aetherius Society as a non-profit organisation in the US.[2]

Four phases of Operation Starlight in America were conducted, often under arduous conditions. The pain that George King had to endure on some of these phases was intense. On Mount Adams he severely injured his hip on the climb and had to march for 11 hours suffering great pain.

Further phases in Australia and New Zealand followed. In New Zealand on the arduous Mount Wakefield, in the foothills of Mount Cook, he and his companion Keith Hope-Robertson lost their way and were forced to spend Christmas Eve 1960 overnight on the wet, freezing cold mountain. With two more phases in Europe, and a third, it was reported, performed on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, by a Master of "The Spiritual Hieraarchy of Earth", Saint Goo-Ling, Operation Starlight ended on August 23, 1961. The Aetherius Society views the Charged Mountains as an endless source of spiritual power, and the Twelve Blessings as a tremendously powerful way to tap it for one's own benefit and for that of humanity as a whole.

The Nine Freedoms, delivered in 1961 by a communicator known as "Master Mars Sector Six", outlined man’s evolutionary progress on this world and beyond.

In 1964, with a simple instruction from Geroge King's communicators Operation Bluewater was born. For this he had to design specialised apparatus capable of radiating a beam of spiritual energy placed on it by extraterrestrials through thousands of feet of seawater into a Psychic Centre of Earth. A boat was taken out on the Pacific over four phases, during which George King said that he maintained telepathic contact with the Cosmic Masters while steering it in complicated manoeuvres over the Centre. The claimed result of this was that the dangerous San Andreas Fault was kept in balance and thousands of lives were saved.

On July 8, 1964 George King took a transmission describing how spacecraft from many worlds amassed in the skies of Earth to conduct her Primary Initiation. The Aetherius Society believes that after this cosmic moment the Earth and all life upon its back were never the same again. The tremendous forces sent into the Body of this great Planetary Being would ensure that. George King, in what he described as the greatest triumph of his mediumship, recorded this event. He also recounted and explained it in his book, The Day The Gods Came, published shortly afterwards.

Realising mankind’s abuse of the Earth, and what he regarded as the inevitable karmic repercussions that were due as a result, he designed Operation Sunbeam. It had the simplest of strategies: take spiritual energy given to man through Operation Starlight, and send it to The Mother Earth. He had, he thought, devised apparatus to radiate energy to the Earth for Operation Bluewater, and had already begun to use it in new ways. His new Spiritual Energy Radiator, for instance, was capable of radiating to the world energy sent to it by an extraterrestrial spacecraft. But how could one collect energy from the Charged Mountains without losing the human involvement that he thought so essential to the manipulation of Karma? The solution was a battery that could hold spiritual energy. Operation Sunbeam began on September 24, 1966, and was designed to store energy and then send it to the Earth as a living entity as a token repayment of the energy that mankind had taken throughout the centuries. In this way it would make a crucial move to balance the karma of mankind.

From this technology came yet another Operation. Begun on Holdstone Down on June 30, 1973, Operation Prayer Power was a tool for world ecology and mass healing. Again the premise was simple: amass large amounts of spiritual energy through prayer and discharge it quickly and decisively to world crises at a crucial moment. Energy was invoked through the Twelve Blessings, stored in a spiritual energy battery and discharged using the Spiritual Energy Radiator. Results, said George King, were dramatic. The mission helped to arrest disease waves, stimulate international aid and even, in the case of Cyprus in 1974, stop a war in the most spectacular manner. On December 5, 1978, said George King, he received an invitation to visit the mystical city of Shamballa, which had, for thousands of years, floated silently and invisibly over the Gobi Desert, and there had met the being known during his incarnation on Earth as the Buddha, who had initiated him with these words: "I thus initiate you as Grand Knight Templar of the Inner Sanctum of the Holy Order of the Spiritual Hierarchy of Earth."

Dozens of terrestrial honours followed. These culminated in his being created Archbishop Metropolitan of his own Church, and Prince of Santorini at the hand of a scion of one of Europe’s ancient noble houses. He also received his own Grant of Arms from a Herald at Her Majesty’s College of Arms in England.

In 1986, he was stricken by a heart attack, and underwent an angioplasty. This was followed by a multiple heart bypass operation in 1992. Although his legendary capacity for hard work was somewhat diminished by ill health, nonetheless on the cosmic level events continued thick and fast. Operation Power Light, commencing in 1993, used him as a channel for great power to be sent out.

George King died on July 12, 1997 in Santa Barbara.
