George H. Pepper

George Hubbard Pepper (February 2, 1873May 13, 1924) was an ethnologist and archaeologist, was born in Tottenville, Staten Island, New York. In 1915, he traveled to Georgia to explore the Nacoochee Mound in the state’s old Cherokee region. In 1917, as a result of this exploration, Pepper published The Nacoochee Mound Report. Pepper later returned to New York, where he died on May 13, 1924.
