George Grainger
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
George Grainger (November 11, 1887 — August 17, 1977) was an English cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm slow-medium bowler who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire. Grainger was born in Morton and died in Walton.
Grainger's began his career in the 1909 season, making his debut against Lancashire. While he was moved up the order for his next game, he failed to capitalize on his position and was not picked in the first team for nearly a year. Grainger played just one match during the 1910 season, and was dropped from the team, not playing another game for eleven years.
Grainger made his return in the first half of the 1921 season, at the age of 34, however, he underperformed, and he was never to play first-class cricket again. Derbyshire finished the 1921 season in twelfth place in the County Championship.
