George Deyes

George Deyes was a first class cricketer who played 17 matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1905 and 1907.

A right arm fast bowler, he took 41 wickets at the useful average of 23.02 and a strike rate of just over 40. He had a best of 6 for 62 against Ireland and took 5 for 75 in a championship game against Somerset CCC.

A right handed tail ender with modest ability with the bat he scored just 44 runs at 2.2 with a best of 12.

He also played for the Yorkshire Second XI (1903-1907) and Staffordshire (1910-1913).

Born on February 11, 1878 in Southcotes, Sculcoates, Hull he died on January 11, 1963 in Tipperlin, Edinburgh.
