George Cromer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
George Cromer (died 1543) was an English churchman, who was Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland in the reign of Henry VIII of England, from 1521/2[1].
Caught up in Henry's reformation of the Church of England, he was deprived of his see, Armagh[2]. He in fact continued in place as archbishop, despite suspicion from Henry and also suspension by the Pope, for alleged heresy[3][4].
He was Lord Chancellor of Ireland in 1531, as a placeman of Garrett, 9th Earl of Kildare[5][6]
