George Byng, 3rd Viscount Torrington

George Byng (b. 21 September 1701, d. 7 April 1750) was the 3rd Viscount Torrington. He was the son of Admiral George Byng, 1st Viscount Torrington. He married Elizabeth Daniel, granddaughter of Sir Peter Daniel, on 21 August 1736. Their son, George (b. 11 October 1740) would become 4th Viscount Torrington [1] [2]

Byng served as an officer in the British Army. From 1742 to 1748, he was Colonel of the 4th Regiment of Marines (British Army). From 1749 to 1750 he was Colonel of the 48th Regiment of Foot. He ended his military career with the rank of Major General. [3] [4]
