George Ian Boyd (born 2 October 1985 in Chatham, England) is an English footballer, currently playing for Peterborough United as a left winger. He was affectionately known to Stevenage Borough fans as 'the White Pele' and since his recent move to Peterborough, that name still stands even with his new club. Boyd's early football was played in the Medway Towns, beginning with Bredhurst Boys before stepping up to the county level playing for Chatham Town in the Kent League. It is well known that he is a Crystal Palace fan.

Boyd joined Peterborough on January 8, 2007 for a Conference-record transfer fee of £260,000 from Stevenage Borough,[1] beating the £250,000 that Wimbledon paid for Andy Clarke.

Boyd scored his first goal for Peterborough in the Football League Two fixture against Wrexham on February 10, 2007, a game which Peterborough went on to win 3-0.

In a recent Sky Sports interview, Peterborough director of football Barry Fry had stated that they rejected a bid of around £2.5million for George Boyd.
