George Asakura

George Asakura (朝倉ジョージ Asakura Jōji?, born 1974-05-11) is a Japanese manga artist. She is best known for A Perfect Day for Love Letters, which has been licensed in English by Del Rey Manga, and Knock Your Heart Out!. In 2005, she won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo for A Perfect Day for Love Letters.[1]
- Gerorge Asakura made her debut as manga artist with Punky Cake Junkie, which was published in the magazine Bessatsu Friend DX Juliet in 1995. She gained prominence with the serialization of A Perfect Day for Love Letters in 1998, which has now been released as a live-action omnibus movie in Japan.
Known for her unique, edgy style and storytelling, George Asakura crosses over between the everyday and the fantastic, the hilarious and bittersweet. Her past works include Shonen Shojo Romance, Bara Ga Saita, Suimitsuto No Yoru, Happy End (published by Kodansha), Heart wo Uchinomese, A piece of Cake, Karaoke Baka Ichidai (published by Shoudensha), and Heibon Ponch (published by Shogokukan). She is currently worikng on the new series Oborerru Knife (The Drowning Knife)
- Conform the extra manga from Volume 2 of A Perfect Day for Love Letters, she has humor sense (by declaring her arms are long but her legs are short. Indirectly, she complains about her appearance by comically drawing herself looking like a male).
- Her favorites are tasty coffee with milk in it; Cream cheese and dairy products; Natto and bean, bean products; Meat, vegetables, sweets; Fish ("I can eat everything. I have no sense of taste. Tone deaf. I have no sense of direction. I'm uncoordinated at sports" - declared by herself in A Perfect Day for Love Letters)
