George Alexander Albrecht

George Alexander Albrecht (15 February 1935) is a German conductor and father of the conductor Marc Albrecht.

From 1990 to 1995, Albrecht was guest director of the Semperoper in Dresden, leading a new production of Schoenberg's opera Moses und Aron in 1994. He was also general music director of the Staatskapelle Weimar.

In 1965, appointed general music director of the Staatsoper Hanover at just 29-years-old, he became the youngest director in German history. Albrecht has championed the music of Wilhelm Furtwängler, Hans Pfitzner, Erwin Schulhoff, and Allan Pettersson among others.

His brother Ernst Albrecht is a politician.
