George Alexander (September 21, 1839August 2, 1923) was a two term Mayor of Los Angeles.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he removed to the United States at the age of 11. In 1862, he married Annie Yeiser. He later enlisted in the Army and fought in the Civil War.

He removed to Los Angeles, California, in 1866, and by 1898, he began his governmental career in the County Recorder's office. In 1901, he was elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. He became mayor in 1909 and served until 1913.

George Alexander died at age 83. He is interred in Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles.
