George 'Sonny' Goddard born in Trinidad and Tobago was a Steel Pan enthusiast and President of Steelband Association.
The deceased father of four children and husband of the widowing Mona Goddard, Sonny born was in Trinidad. Once described as a "short tempered, cantankerous old man with a heart of gold." by friends. he was known to be whitty and single-minded. However he remains to be an important part in Steel Pan History.

As said with reporter Kim Johnson on October 22, 2000 before he died, he first got introduce with steel pan during Carnival 1939 heavily motivated by Alexander Ragtime on Woodford Street and Tragarete Road in Port of Spain.
His mother Miriam, died in October causing a six month period of mourning causing him not getting involved in pan again until Carnival 1940.However in 1941, Newtown Boys' Calvary Tamboo Bamboo band was formed for the youths in the area since they couldn't get involved with the older men from ragtime.

Sonny was famous for his talent on the steel pan. ""I played along with Victor 'Toty' Wilson, Esteen 'Police' Small, Paychee, Roy 'Buddy' Coleston, Charlie Chan, John 'Basawan' Cummings and band director Carlton 'Humbugger' Forde."" said in an interview
He also had done work as painter, builder, musician, and singer.
Sonny was President of Steelband Association. Possibly causing his large interest in politics. Sonny normally went to rallys and was said by his son, George Goddard Jr., that he 'always had the up to date on news in their neighbourhood'.
