Georg Ernst of Limburg Stirum

Georg Ernst of Limburg Stirum, count of Limburg Stirum, count of Bronckhorst, Lord of Wisch, Lichtenvoorde and Wildenborch, son of Jobst of Limburg.

Georg Ernst was Captain (in 1625), then Major (in 1641) of the Army of the Republic of the United Netherlands.

He married (1st) countess Magdalene von Bentheim; then (2nd) in Terborg, on January 13, 1636, countess Sophie Margarete von Nassau-Siegen, countess zu Nassau, Katzenelnbogen, Vianden and Diez, Lady zu Beilstein (born 1610, died 1665).

He died in 1666.

He left one daughter, Marie Elisabeth of Limburg and Bronckhorst (died 1707) who married in 1646 Heinrich, Fürst von Nassau-Siegen (d. 1652). They had four children, Ernestine, Frederick, Sophie and William Morritz of Nassau-Siegen.
