Geolsa Biu was a 7th century military leader of Baishan Mohe ancestry. Geolsa Biu took an active part in Balhae's effort for autonomy against the Tang Dynasty. Geolsa Biu's died in the Battle of Cheonmun-ryeong, in which Balhae achieved victory and declared autonomy.

Geolsa Biu appeared in the "Dae Jo Yeong (TV series) as a sworn brother of Dae Jo Yeong and Heuksodul. He was once Yang Manchun's follower but after Goguryeo got destroyed, he begins to follow Dae Jo Yeong. He is described as a serious character, not to be joked of. Although not mentioned directly in the drama, he secretly likes Geum-ran, the adopted sister of Mimosa. It is not uncertain until the episode 128.
