You're right, the only part of this that's mine is the scan. But the upload process does not explain how to tag things properly, so I was counting on someone like yourself to help out with that. I'll wait and see what they say the proper tag is. Thank you for your help. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 17:33, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

re: Domino (Producer) page; Thanks for your help with things, I saw that you recently removed a series of fair-use images (album covers) from a post. re:Undo
Just got the message 'The license tags state they may be used "solely to illustrate the audio recording in question"', I'm confused, that is exactly what the images do...? Please advise, I would like to keep the images on the page. They represent the Albums which the referenced recordings are on-I'm unclear on how that does not fit the stated parameters...? Thanks-J —Preceding unsigned comment added by ThaCrates (talk • contribs) 01:15, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
re:re: Undo
Ok-really, I'm not slow-LOL! So is this issue that the images are used in a discography with critical commentary? Being that the purpose is to illustrate the albums that the producer has worked on with in a group of related artist, is this an issue beyond a strict interpretation of this rule? I modeled what I did off of other discographies that did list chart position or units sold, but did not include critical commentary-Souls of Mischief for example;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Souls_Of_Mischief
Also, this one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_rock
If this is rule breaking, unclear or not useful to the article, I'll be happy to change it-would you mind directing me to a discography that does fit the parameters of what you're looking for regarding music producers? Not trying to be difficult, just not sure how I should have done it...
Thx- J —Preceding unsigned comment added by ThaCrates (talk • contribs) 13:42, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
re:re:re:
Ok, so I get it-bit of a confusing rule. The simple solution is for me to put chart position into the table, then everyone is happy. I don't think it would be appropriate for me to put commentary in that particular chart as that would defeat the overall purpose. I will get on that as soon as I can. I will request that that rule be looked at-it seems that using it in the way I did is simple for illustrative/non commercial purposes shouldn't be against any rules, but I'm happy to comply. Thanks again!

Question
Geniac,
You posted on my page when I joined wikipedia...thank you for leaving me a contact in case I have a question! On that note, I have questions about what to do with this page: Vir Singh. The page you see is a page created by Dr. Vir Singh himself, and although someone nominated it for deletion, he valiently defended his wikipedia page. All that is fine. What I believe should be changed, is that there is a much more important person named Vir Singh. He is under Bhai Vir Singh, because he was granted the title "Bhai" meaning brother. Bhai Vir Singh is an important historical figure and without a doubt in my mind the person that should pop up when you enter "vir singh" into the search box (and he was the person who came up, until this Dr. Singh created his own wikipedia entry). I would like to approach this in the right way...maybe nominate a redirect, or create a disambiguation page? The best outcome in my mind would be Vir Singh redirecting to Bhai Vir Singh, with a sentence on the top of that article saying "for the historian Dr. Vir Singh, please click here". Alas, I still have limited knowledge of wikipedia, so if you could tell me what you think I should do, or direct me to where I can learn this process, that would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! Virsingh 03:23, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Andy Barnett (radio) of KNSI
What needs to be done to make Andy Barnett (radio) of KNSI "notable" ? He is listed in various media directories, has been referenced by other sources including:

Those are just some of the many places referencing the talk show hosted by Andy Barnett... It's heavily listened to by newsmakers, politicians, and citizens in Minnesota and in St. Cloud. Andy Barnett (radio) KNSI
You're going to have to speak in layman's terminology to me... You identified some of the sources as primary sources, so should I expect the article on Andy Barnett (radio) KNSI to be re-instated soon? You say the blogs are unreliable sources, and the other articles mention Andy Barnett (radio) KNSI, this seems to be fairly good evidence that Andy Barnett (radio) KNSI exists... What more do you need to prove the existence of this person in the media and this talk show? If you could please tell me in a conversational way what needs to be done next that would be nice, as I'm no expert on Wiki-speak or editing Wikipedia pages for that matter...
Thank you...

Alleged Vadalism to a Userpage
You left me a message concerning alleged vandalism or more accurately something about making unauthorized changes to a userpage that could be taken as vandalism. No worries there being that any revisions or additions done to the Little Joe Shots userpage by me won't be considered vandalism since I am Little Joe Shots, in other words I just forgot to log in when I made the revisions or additions, but in reality I didn't think it mattered since it was my page and even when any type or revision or addition is done there is some kind of record or user number that can be traced or followed if there is any real vandalism. Sorry for the misunderstanding or for any inconvenience I may have caused, but let me acknowledge the fact that I have never vandalized any person's userpage or Wikipedia articles in the past and of course that is documented. In fact I have had my userpage vandalized in the past and by one of the administrators no less, yet I did not do anything except air my anger on that person's usertalk page.
I feel that any type of deliberate vandalism to any Wikipedia articles or another person's userpage is a despicable act and the act of a coward. No matter what type of incident may occur concerning my personal userpage I will never vandalize another person's userpage or work, that type of action speaks only to my character, just as it would concerning the original act of vandalism and the person who committed it. Once again let me apologize for any inconvenience caused by my failure to log in and in the future I will try to make sure that I am logged in when making any revisions, additions or edits in the future.

Hi there,
-- RE: If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Same goes for Image:Sellabandcombandpage.jpg, Image:SecondPersonBedfordDVDCover.jpg, Image:SecondPersonChromatographyAlbumCover.jpg, Image:SecondPersonGoneFishingGirlSing.jpg, Image:SecondPersonFourLeafCloverSB6.jpg and Image:Mouchedollsmall.jpg. --Geniac 00:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC) --
thank you for bringing the copyright licenses for the images you listed to my attention. I was wondering, if something is a DVD cover, or a screen shot from a film is it useable? I have sort permission from the people who own the copyright and they say it's ok to use them for non-profit on Wikipedia, but in the past I've included this dialogue and these images have still been deleted. How could I justify the use of a DVD cover or screen shot, at low resolution, in the explanation section. Ie. what should I say? I know they are fine to use, as I see examples of these everday on wikipedia...I'm a little confused and hope you can help. Jameslenton 01:00, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:PortalPlayer-v2.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:PortalPlayer-v2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:09, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for that notice you left on my talkpage. However, I'm not entirely sure what you meant by it. Wilhelmina Will 21:12, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh, now I understand. And Btw, (took me a moment to realize what that stood for, I'm not used to online-initials' languages!) I know I really don't need to do that, nor do I keep count on any of the other pages I frequently edit. I just have a strong connection to that article, and it's episode page, and I'd like to see how many edits it receives in total. User Foxlad created the Iggy Arbuckle page, so he is the actual parent of the article, but he metaphorically seems to have left it on someone else's doorstep. That someone else just happened to be me; and the little bundle was very frail at the time, and very cute (and I'm really fond of the show!), so I took it in. And the page for the episodes was created by me, so, because I've done more for these articles than anyone else (I hope that didn't sound very braggish!), I've developed this little game with them. It's kind of like how mothers and fathers line their children up against walls, and report how much they've grown since the last time. Wilhelmina Will 21:30, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

I read and commented on your comment on my discussion page. If possible, please read my comment and clarify the vandalism/personal attack issues that I raised. I appreciate your help with this matter. Legalprof (talk) 23:01, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your clarification. I don't necessarily agree with all of your clarifications, particularly given the content of the edit summaries. My main dispute would be with the fourth message, which you stated was valid since it was merely a request, however, the fourth message included a reversion that included the first three messages indicating that the user intended to incorporate the third message into the fourth message. If that user had intended merely to include the first two messages then that user could have reverted to the revision which only contained the first two messages. Therefore, as you stated that the third message was invalid, I would argue that the fourth message was invalid as well.
Despite my differing belief about the fourth message, I really do appreciate the fact that you clarified this situation.

your letting me know that Image:Tornados.jpg was up for going down. I loaded it a couple of years ago when things were a bit different, not so many templates and all. I actually uploaded a bunch of record covers and now, one by one, or sometimes in bunches, they are going down in flames. One reason for removing them is that they are not exactly free. My reason for including them is that they add a bit of color to otherwise stark pages. But I understand that those times have come and gone. As Robert Graves once said, Good-bye to All That. Bye. Apologies. My intent was to remove the link to Yankees manager Joe Torro. As he is not the Joe Torro involved in The Post circulation scandal. 68.83.145.6 (talk) 09:13, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Yuri Foreman
Thanks for your help on yuri foreman. in your last edits, you changed the formating of cites I put in to a template form. As best I can see, no substantive changes and no additions of info. Wiki does not require templates for citations, or suggest that they are superior. Personally, I find them inferior, as harder to work with and clutter on the edit page. To make matters worse, the foreman article is not across the board sourced. I'm not quite sure that the changes help the article, and they don't comport with how I would seek to add future citations. I guess if you don't mind following me and making future changes of my work, fine, but I don't intend to go to the extra hassle of using a template myself.--Ethelh (talk) 01:45, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
