[edit] Your recent edits
Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 21:01, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Quick guide to referencing
Here's a quick crash-course in adding references. In the article body, you would have something like the following:
References can be simple.<ref>Simple reference, http://example.com</ref> You can name references...<ref name="repeatedref">Reference that crops up twice in the text, http://example.org</ref> ...and then refer to the name to re-use them.<ref name="repeatedref"/>
Then at the end you would have a References section, which might be done as:
==References== {{reflist}}
or, to use normal-sized font:
==Footnotes== <references />
or, to add some "generic" references that aren't referred to in the text (I find it's usually better to refer to them in the text, though, that way you can easily mark each item you're sourcing):
==References== {{reflist}} {{refbegin}} * Generic reference #1 * Generic reference #2 {{refend}}
Some project pages of relevance: WP:FOOT, WP:REF, WP:CITET. A random example from my watchlist of an article that uses plenty of references: Billy Graham
Hope that helps you out! --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 07:56, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
