[edit] Proposed Logo #5
Although this is a rough draft, I am proposing it as an alternative to the other logos. I feel that it is much starker, and relays the pervasiveness of genocide as an international phenomenon. Danny 04:20, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your Vote
Which of these four do you think will best represent the Genocide Portal? Vote on #'s 1-4. --EricSRodrigues154 03:19, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] NerwenGreen
- What's the difference between #1 and #2? NerwenGreen 03:26, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Either #1 or #2 (with and without border :p), but I'd keep hold of #3 and #4 also, in case you ever need smaller versions of them for something. NerwenGreen 04:11, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Camrom
- Either #2 or #3, personally. Carom 03:58, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Concern about Logo & Suggestion for a new genre
- Um... seems awfully clean/happy to me, and having little to do with genocide. Should we instead perhaps use a picture of the gates to Auschwitz or something like that? I'm not advocating shock value stuff of course, but at the same time genocide is by definition not meant to be pleasant or a light topic. LordAmeth 11:37, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Suggestion taken & in Progress of creating such
-
- Actually, I like the idea of using the Auschwitz gate. I am going to go on a hunt to see if I could find a relevant picture. Thanks for the suggestion. I will have up several new LOGO designs incorporating this by Friday/Saturday of this week.

Here are some ideas I have just come up with that stem from that suggestion:
1. The Auschwitz gate
2. The inscription above the Auschwitz gate
3. the entrance tower/bbuilding to Auschwitz
4. An Auschwitz guard tower
5. The Auschwitz rail line
6. The Auschwitz dismembered rail line
7. A box car
8. Auschwitz at night with spotlight & haze/fog

- First, my favorite is the one with the tracks that look like they're on fire at nighttime.
- Some thoughts about logos in general: you want to keep it as simple as possible so you can scale it up and down, sizewise. Too much detail is bad because at small sizes it'll look like mush. For Genocide in particular, simplicity is good too to keep it general, because the Jews weren't the only victims. Native Americans and Australian aborigines come to mind; railroad tracks could work for them as well. NerwenGreen 04:35, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

- I like #s 6 and 7 best I think. I'm not sure how well they'll scale, but at least they're basic images which could evoke other events, not just the Shoah. Thank you for considering my concerns; out of these new choices, I think just about any of them would be fine, whatever we agree upon. LordAmeth 08:36, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

First, I like logo 1 for the "official" logo. Real96 20:53, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
