Gentleman (1993) is a Tamil film directed by S. Shankar, released on the 13th July 1993. The film marked S. Shankar's debut in film, and with the highest budget for an Indian film in 1993, became a blockbuster upon release. It stars Arjun and Madhoo in the lead roles. The film's music (score and soundtrack) is composed by A. R. Rahman, and it was very well received upon release. The choreography in the film was also viewed as a highlight.

A story of a modern day Robin Hood who takes from the rich to provide education for the poor. Kicha (Arjun) is a respected person in his local community and runs a small business. But Kicha, unknown to anyone, is a notorious robber. He is accompanied by his friend Mani (Goundamani). He has stolen millions of rupees from many victims. The home minister and the police are adamant to catch this underhanded robber yet are unsuccessful. Madhoo, a simple brahmin girl working under Kicha falls for him. Charan Raj is an efficient Police officer who takes charge to nab Kichaa, at one instance Charan Raj challenges to catch him and makes a plan. But Kichha still escapes and this results in the tonsuring of Charan Raj's head. Later Charan Raj gets married to the cousin of Madhoo, which leads him closer in identifying Kichaa. But kichaa still escapes with help of his friend. Kichaa makes one final robbery as planned and once he makes it Charan Raj arrests him. He has spent all the theft money to build a college and School for poor children. At courtroom he reveals the reasons of his Robinhood Avatar with a very strong flashback. But there is a story behind Kicha robbing from the greedy politicians and government, one that started with a tragedy in his family resulting in the death of his mother (Manorama) and friend Ramesh (Vineeth).
