Gentilino

Gentilino is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland.
It was first recorded in year 1210 as Gentarino.
The municipality also contained the village Viglio. It had 333 inhabitants in 1850, which increased to 427 in 1900, 558 in 1950 and 1,328 in 2000.
In 2004 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Agra and Montagnola to form a new and larger municipality Collina d'Oro.
