Gennady Konyakhin (Геннадий Коняхин) was mayor of the Western Siberian mining city of Leninsk-Kuznetsky in 1997. He has become successful in business, amassing wealth of about half a billion US$. On October the 9th of 1997 he was arrested in Moscow. In 1998 he was cleared of all charges. Konyakhin previously he had been convicted. He allegedly had good contacts to Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Konyakhin was suspected of having called contract killers.
