The 2000 GM Precept

The General Motors Precept was a 2000 low emission vehicle concept car aimed at establishing U.S. leadership in the development of extremely fuel-efficient vehicles while retaining the features that make them marketable and affordable. It was introduced at the North American International Auto Show as part of the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles with the rest of the Big Three and the US Government. GM was able to meet the 80 mpg (US) (2.9 L/100 km/96 mpg imp) fuel economy goal with the Precept, creating both a fuel cell and hybrid version of the car.
