Talk:Geller

[edit] Origins of name
The original article stated that "Geller is the Russianised form of Heller." While this is true, it is not applicable in every case of someone bearing that surname. In cases, the name may come from the German verb "gellen," to yell. Thus, it would have nothing to do with Russian. In some cases, "Geller" may come from the Yiddish word "gell," which means yellow. In other cases, it may come from the Yiddish word "geler," an expression for a redheaded person. In the former case, the name would be related to the German-based name "Gelber" rather than the Russian-based name "Heller."
