[edit] Club career

He played 13 seasons for Brann. His debut was 1 June 1991, and he played his last match against Vålerenga in the last match of the season 2003. He played mostly as a right defender.

During this period he also played 13 matches for the German team Arminia Bielefeld in 1996, but returned to Brann to play the last half of the season. Geddi played in total 336 matches for Brann, but scored only 7 goals.

His passionate runs along the line, offensive attitude and talent for combinations for years made him one of the best Norwegian backs on the offense, though his crosses, shots and ability to control the ball at pace frustratingly didn't hold the same quality. His defensive play was also passionate, but somewhat unorthodox. Over the years, his style of playing became slightly more polished, improving defensively but perhaps gradually losing some of the relentless offensive energy.

During Geddi's career in Brann his positive attitude, good spirits and hopeless crosses made him loved and hated by the supporters. In the 2001 season he went to the media and asked the supporters if he should retire or not. The voting ended with 3525 votes to continue, and 3429 votes to retire. So Geddi signed a new contract.

In his last match for Brann, he was put on as a substitute a few minutes before the end, the crowd going wild as he entered the pitch. He was placed as a striker, the position which he had played in as a junior player, but had never been used in for Brann. To the crowd's infinite delight, he played superbly, succeeding in everything he hadn't managed before: he made a huge number of dribbles, fired a fantastic shot against the crossbar and was named Brann's best player by the speaker five minutes after he entered the pitch. The speaker also credited him a goal that he was involved in but rather obviously didn't score. Whether "Geddi" was actually a world-class striker all along, we will never know.

He received some media attention for his good-natured verbal fights with Mini Jacobsen.

[edit] International career

Geddi also played 6 matches for Norway.[1].
