Geiger is a town in Sumter County, Alabama, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 161.

Geiger is located at 32°52′7″N, 88°18′22″W (32.868543, -88.306061)[1].

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 161 people, 56 households, and 40 families residing in the town. The population density was 162.8 people per square mile (62.8/km²). There were 70 housing units at an average density of 70.8/sq mi (27.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 29.81% White and 70.19% Black or African American.

There were 56 households out of which 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.6% were married couples living together, 17.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.8% were non-families. 23.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.88 and the average family size was 3.46.

In the town the population was spread out with 30.4% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 83.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.8 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $17,917, and the median income for a family was $23,750. Males had a median income of $30,625 versus $10,417 for females. The per capita income for the town was $8,585. About 33.3% of families and 41.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 59.5% of those under the age of eighteen and 33.3% of those sixty five or over.
