The Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is a Japanese Artist Signature bass guitar made by Fender in honor of Rush bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee. It has a solid alder '72 Jazz Bass body, black finish, Leo Quan BadAss II bridge, 3-ply white/black/white pickguard and a thin 1-piece C-shape maple neck with maple fingerboard featuring 20 medium-jumbo frets, black neck binding and block-shaped position markers. Other features include vintage-style tuners, chrome-plated hardware and a pair of American Vintage Jazz Bass pickups controlled by two separate volumes and a master tone. It was introduced in 1998. This "signature" model is a recreation of Lee's favorite bass, a 1972 model Fender Jazz that he bought in a pawn shop in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Along with his Rickenbacker 4001 bass, it has been one of his most utilized instruments throughout his career spanning over three decades.
