Gedaliah Silverstone

Rabbi Gedaliah Silverstone (1871, Jasionowka, Poland - 1944, Jerusalem, Israel) was a prominent Orthodox Rabbi and author in the United States at the beginning of the twentieth century.
In 1901, Silverstone was appointed rabbi of the Orthodox Congregation in Belfast, Ireland. In 1905, he immigrated to the United States as he accepted the rabbinite of the Combined Congregations of Washington D.C. In 1941, after a few unsuccessful attempts, he finally achieved his goal of settling in Israel. He lived there until he passed away in 1944.
[edit] Involvement in Jewish Society
Silverstone was very active in the national Jewish community. He was vice president of the Aggudath Harabbonim; was director of the Hebrew Sanitarium of Denver, Colorado, and the Hebrew Home for the aged in Washington D.C.; he established the first yeshiva in the Washington D.C. area; was a delegate to the Sixth Zionist Congress.

Silverstone was a grandson of Rabbi Elijah Abramsky; a nephew of Rabbi Chaim Zev Hirsh Braude; the father of Rabbi Dr.Harry Silverstone; a cousin to Rabbi Zelig Reuben Bengis; an in-law of Rabbi Gershom Ravinson of Cleveland, Ohio.
