GEAR Video

GEAR Video 8 is a CD and DVD authoring software program for Microsoft Windows. It is designed to enable the creation CDs or DVDs of any type, including CD Audio, CD-ROM, Video CD, Super Video CD, DVD-ROM, or DVD-Video discs. It is also a CD and DVD burning software program, capable of recording (burning) CDs or DVDs of any format (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, and DVD-RAM) to any CD or DVD recorders.
GEAR Software was one of the pioneers in the development of CD and DVD recording software, beginning in 1986 with a grant from the European Commission. The company started as Elektroson. GEAR’s software library is licensed to other software developers, and is incorporated in many products, such as Symantec Ghost, and Apple's iTunes for Windows.
GEAR Video provides CD Audio, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Video CD and DVD- Video authoring capabilities. It also provides audio and video capture (recording, or transferring the digital file to the PC), audio file conversion (to or from WAV, MP3, Ogg, WMA, or MPEG), audio editing, and video encoding (to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2) capabilities.
On June 6, 2007, GEAR issued a press release announcing the release of the new, free (but time-limited) beta version of GEAR Video, GEAR Video 9.
