[edit] alternative GDOs?
I vaguely remember in an episode where SG-1 had given a lesser-advanced society an artifact of some sort which they were to throw into the Stargate in the event they ever needed to travel to Earth w/o a GDO. The artifact had a unique radioactive signal which the SGC could identify and then open the iris for. Does anybody remember what episode this was? — THOR | Image:Lfucg-flag.gif 23:03, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
Umm...Thor's Hammer. Yeah, that was the Sagan Institute Box. I don't remember what episode it was that they threw it back, though. But the box contained irridium, leaving a unique radioactive signature that could be picked up when its energy signatures impacted the iris. Sorani172 03:49, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
They threw it back in the episode called "Thor's Chariot". What I'm curious about is which character in the show came up with the term GDO...
[edit] Never Explained On Screen?
The fact that GDO stands for Garage Door Opener was never explained on screen is just wrong. I remember at least three episodes where they called it a garage door opener, will look for proof later unless someone has it on hand. Penman 1701 15:36, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
