final clarification

Well, I was taking one point at a time to ensure clarity on wiki's allowance and yes, came across other examples for the 'spam' link you were so kind to forward me. Though I won't take up your time to express those, as apparently my page has been deleted, I just wanted to confirm, I could go ahead and not write 'fancy' by copying other formal entries on social sites and state my latest find in my own terms- and basically re-do its verbiage? I guess my biggest issue is that when i read these other social site entries- it looks pretty advertisement like to me? Not that anything is wrong with that either- I don't think. As for a student running into all these social websites, I think a list of these and further information helps to shed clarity on the variety of features and uses that people find in them. Thanks for your time and attempt for direction. Trendiki 20:52, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Username

Yes, I understand it probably looks 'flaggable' when the user name is what I wanted to write about. Trendiki was the only thing I was going to enter into wiki- It's not my intention to update wiki of other information, so I merely used the site, itself, as the user. I guess I will create another account to dodge administration's suspicions. Thanks for your time. Trendiki 21:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Mitchell oldschool danger bennett mallory III

You tagged this as a speedy delete as reposted content. Can you provide a link to the AfD discussion? It doesn't seem to have been under this name. DES (talk) 21:28, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. I have removed the speedy delete tag. The previous version was apparently tagged for speedy deletion. {{db-repost}} is for situations where the content being reposted has been deleted via an AfD (or other deletion discussion, such as TfD or CfD). This apparently has not been. it is clearly not an example of patent nonsense which is what {{db-nonsense}} is for, and it makes at least a claim of notability (multiple albums). This is not, IMO a valid speedy, if you want it gone (and it may well not pass WP:MUSIC, I can't be sure), please use AfD. DES (talk) 21:44, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
The db-repost template may not be absolutely clear, but WP:CSD#G4 is clear -- something is only a repost if it has been through an XfD discussion (an AfD or one of the processes for other types of pages. If it were still a valid speedy for another reason, that tag could be simply substituted, having used the wrong tag does not give the article a pass. But this isn't "nonsense" and should never have been speedy deleted as such, please read WP:PN and see how limited "nonsense" is. it isn't an nn-band, because it claims notability, and while I now think it is a hoax too, I have seen less probable things turn out to have valid sources that google missed. That is why "hoax" is NOT a speedy delete criterion. This doesn't get any extra points for having had a prior version -- had I seen that version i would have handled it exactly the same. I am starting the AfD process on this even as we type. DES (talk) 22:09, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mitchell oldschool danger bennett mallory III DES (talk)
Discussing it is what I am supposed to do. And our various deeltion systems and criteria can be a bit complex. Thanks for spottign that this was a probable hoax. (also the AfD will provide a clear record for the future, and any later versions will be subject to shoot-on-sight). DES (talk) 22:15, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Tagging of Samuel E.C. Dunlop

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Samuel E.C. Dunlop. I do not think that Samuel E.C. Dunlop fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because this is clearly not nonsense, and IMO there is more than enough notability her, certianly enough to avoid a speedy in any case. Might be debated at AfD, but I think i would say "keep" there.. I request that you consider not re-tagging Samuel E.C. Dunlop for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 23:17, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Please read Wikipedia:Patent nonsense before you cite it in messages to new editors. DES (talk) 23:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

You are welcome. IMO A1 is probably the most over-used CSD there is, i very rarely see a page that is truly patent nonsense, although i see lots of worthless junk. DES (talk) 19:23, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Wizzard Media

I am not quite sure why Wizzard Media would be tagged for speedy deletion. The company is, in fact, the largest podcast hosting network in the world, a landmark achievement. Also, there was no sort of persuasive advertising language used in the article; it was complete fact and all of the information can be referenced to multiple sources. The company also offers a unique, one-of-a-kind technology for podcast transcription and archiving, another landmark achievement. Soapboxhero 01:45, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Soapboxhero

Army Church Parade

In response to your query, I tagged this one with {{db-empty}} on the ground that the question could not form a proper part of any article, and if it were edited out nothing would be left. Then i left the creator a note suggesting that the reference desk or requested articles would be good places to ask the question. DES (talk) 20:39, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

db-repost

I have just added some usage notes to {{db-repost}}. I would be intersted in knowing if you think they are likely to be helpful to other editors. DES (talk) 21:05, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Suggestions are always welcome -- of course if we put in too many notes, users won't read them and clarity will decrease. What do you think needs to be clearer? If you are unsure, the matter can always be discussed on the termplate's talk page, or on WT:CSD which gets more eyes. DES (talk) 22:04, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh when you want to refer to, but not transclude, a template, please use {{tl}}. the template tl (for template link) takes only one parameter, the name of a template, and it displays a link to that template surrounded by braces, so it looks like an invocation, but it isn't. {{cl}} does the same thing for a category. regarding: speedy deletion of Thrillville page

Hello, you left a comment on the user talk page for user "Cylon78", who created a page about a theater event called Thrillville. I was going to go and add the "hangon" tag to that article, but it's already gone. Can it be resurrected so that I can go add/edit the article from the standpoint of clarifying notability? Thanks, migp Migp 22:42, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I got your message. (Thanks!) A number of us have been working on a new/replacement Thrillville page. We've worked to include references and keep the tone encyclopedic so that it will not be tagged for speedy deletion. The current issue with it is notability... I welcome any comments (pro or con), we're working on fleshing out verifiability/references. Migp 23:37, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: Danny Rhymez and Matty B

Hi.

I did leave a message on the page that I was going to edit the page and make it as polished up as it originally was. Danny Rhymez and Matty B are not a 'nonsense' band - they're completely legit, based in England, they've been on the radio and have CDs/albums out and everything. I'm sorry I wasn't feeling the most awake when I made the page, but I'd been putting it off for too long and just wanted to have the page _there_ at least.

Thanks for your diligence though. I'll try next time (because there definitely will be that page created again) to have it be less 'nonsensical'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kerrigwen85 (talkcontribs)

Gil Noble

This article is no longer a copyvio, so I declined speedy deletion. If there's another reason to delete it, try AFD. --Coredesat 21:20, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

NO Brew

NO Brew is an iced coffee product very much the same way as Seattle's Best. Is the problem one of Encyclopedic wording? I can change that. Then I guess the link would go at the bottom? Forgive me for not knowing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Twinfish (talkcontribs)

Fair use rationale for Image:Ezio_The_Angel_Song_Cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ezio_The_Angel_Song_Cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 16:03, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Blanking speedy tagged pages

Hey there, I noticed you gave a {{uw-speedy}} warning to the creator of Ethan Mentzer for blanking the whole article. When the creator of a speedy tagged article blanks it, the simplest solution by far is not to revert the article to its former, speedy deletable state, but to apply a {{db-blanked}} tag. My impression is that a lot of new users think that by blanking an article, they're deleting it, so this is the best assumption to make as it's assuming good faith and ends up with deletion all the same. Anyway, have a nice day! - Zeibura (Talk) 17:27, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
