Gazela is a planned 176 kilometres (109 mi) natural gas pipeline in the Czech Republic. The pipeline would connect of the north Bohemian town of Hora Svaté Kateřiny and German town of Waidhaus. These are natural gas border delivery stations by which Russian gas is transported from the Czech Republic to Germany. It is planned to connect Gazela also to the OPAL pipeline, a planned connection pipeline to Nord Stream.[1]
There are three possible route options. The final decision is expected at the end of 2008 and the construction will start in 2009.[1]
The pipeline will be constructed and operated by RWE Transgas, the RWE daughter company in the Czech Republic. The project would cost around US$72.2 million.[1]
