A gaz is a unit of measure that is still commonly used in India and Pakistan. It was first established during the Mughal empire. One gaz is equal in length to one yard in the English system, or 0.91 meters in the Metric system. The term is used interchangeably with "yard" in the Indian subcontinent, and has become the standard word in Urdu for "yard".[1]
