Gaynor Fairweather

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gaynor Fairweather is a British professional ballroom dancer.

With her partner, Donnie Burns, they were 15 times World Professional Latin champions and honored to be Members of the Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.). Their professional string of wins stood at an undefeated streak of 14 years followed by two years of retirement and then another single championship followed by another retirement. Prior to that they won championships two years as amateurs. Gaynor fell in love with dancing at the age of 10 and immediately decided to become a world champion. She was introduced to Donny by another former world champion Sammy Stopford and from that date on the team was relentless in the quest for the championship. Gaynor off the dance floor is very non-pretentious and quietly charming. On the floor she is fiercely determined to win.

During their rein they were perfectionists in many ways. In their efforts to strive for excellence they sought out the help of the best in many fields. To bring the elements of Flamenco dance into their competitive repertoire they went to South America to train for some time with world champion Flamenco dancers. They have travelled extensively to teach with some extended trips to Japan and Hong Kong. Gaynor was last known to be living in Hong Kong (circa 2006) and training wealthy socialites for Pro-Am competitions. Near to the end of their rein she married Mirco Sacconi an Italian dancer. After their second retirement she came back to dance again with Mirco however as might be expected never attained the level of success that Donnie and her enjoyed.
