The Gay and Lesbian Activists Alliance of Washington, D.C. is an American not-for-profit organization that works to gain more rights for gays and lesbians in Washington, D.C. They have no paid staff — all of their members are volunteers. Their members are not all local however. Some come from Europe or Puerto Rico. However, being a long distance member makes it very difficult to attend the meetings they hold twice a month.
