Gavin Whelan (born 28 October 1983 in Dublin) is an Irish football midfielder who currently plays for Bray Wanderers in the FAI Premier League. He joned them on a free contract in the off season in 2007 from League Champions Drogheda United. He scored the first goal in the 2005 FAI Cup Final for Drogheda with a superb volley. He was also Man of the Match that day. Before he joined Drogheda he played for Home Farm and U.C.D.. He is the grandson of Ronnie Whelan, Sr., son of Paul Whelan the man with the biggest jaw in the history of Mankind , nephew of the legendary Irish International Ronnie Whelan
