Gavin Campbell, 1st Marquess of Breadalbane

Gavin Campbell, 1st Marquess of Breadalbane, KG, PC, JP, DL (9 April 185119 October 1922) was a Scottish nobleman.

The son of 6th Earl of Breadalbane and Mary Theresa, he was educated at St Andrews. He served as a Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, and as a Captain in the Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry from 1873–1874. He was an Aide-de-Camp to the King.

He succeeded father as 7th Earl of Breadalbane in 1871. In 1872 he married Lady Alma Imogen Carlotta Leonore Graham, the youngest daughter of 4th Duke of Montrose. He was created Baron Breadalbane in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1873.

He was a Lord-in-Waiting to the Queen, Treasurer of Queen's Household, 1880–1885; Lord Steward, 1892–1895; Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1893, 1894 and 1895. He was Lord Lieutenant of Argyllshire from 1914. He was the last holder of the office of Keeper of the Privy Seal of Scotland, which he held from 1907 until his death.

In 1885 he was created 1st Marquess of Breadalbane, together with the subsidiary title Earl of Ormelie. He was appointed a Knight of the Garter in 1894.

He was a Knight of the Order of the Seraphim and of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, was awarded the silver medal of the Royal Humane Society, and was Brigadier-General of the Royal Company of Archers.
