Gaurnadi is located at 22.9736° N 90.2306° E . It has 31601 units of house hold and total area 144.18 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Gaurnadi has a population of 171602. Males constitute are 51.12% of the population, and females 48.88%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 84231. Gaurnadi has an average literacy rate of 42.2% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
