Gaur rajputs are a subranch of the Suryavanshi lineage, which is one of the three lineages into which the Kshatriya caste of Hindus is divided. They claim descent from Surya - god of the sun. All present-day Suryavanshis also claim descent from the Hindu God Rama, who was himself born into a Suryavanshi dynasty.

most of the Gaur clan is spread across the central india, Madhya Pradesh ,Uttar Pradesh etc.
