Maybe if you contributed more than just external links to your site, and you didn't use your site's name as your User name, your edits might be taken more seriously, but as for right now, all the edits you have done have been spam, and they will keep getting reverted. I firmly protest that my links are not spam but I'm honestly not concerned enough to fight for inclusion since it means very little to me. The fact that The GATE receives 65,000+ unique visitors a month, is picked up by Google News, and I am accredited media for a number of large events should add some value to what I'm trying to add, especially to pages that seem lacking to me. As for writing content, I honestly am not familiar enough yet with Wiki, but this does little to entice me if an interview link isn't considered valid. What could I possibly write if my experiences with the subject matter isn't considered valid?
Additionally, at least I'm up front about my intentions and am not trying to include links using subterfuge. --The GATEKeeper 03:35, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- You've just tripped several alarms at one time, you see. We spend a lot of time fending off real spam, and it's the duck test. You know, walks like one, quacks like one, etc. I'd guess that if you showed your contributions to twenty experianced contributors, eighteen of them would revert on sight. That doesn't mean that they'd be correct, just that experiance has shown that the overwhelming majority of contributors with this pattern are not interedted in our goals, only their own.
- I do hope that you can understand. We love editors with specialised knowledge to contribute. We have not nearly enough! So, if we could find some other things for you to do?
- I'd be lying if I said I wasn't offended. I've worked for 5 years to turn The GATE into a reputable source of news and for the most part that's accepted. Regardless, I know where you're coming from and I still went against my own intentions and added content for the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival and the 2005 Juno Awards. When I can I'll probably add more content, and fully update the 2005 TIFF page. --The GATEKeeper 04:33, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
