[edit] Passenger capacity vs platform capacity

When we talk about "capacity", I think we need to distinguish between passenger capacity and train capacity. As I understand it, the plan is to spend £500million and generate space for not one single extra train in the station. The scheme is solely to improve passenger facilities. Yes this scheme is to improve passenger facilities and the station's ability to withstand increasing numbers of passengers yet not increasing numbers of trains. - Erebus555 13:49, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Progress

Bit of information: I see that the outline planning application is before Brum CC's planning committee this week (30 November 2006). You can read the report at [1]. DWaterson 20:51, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rename?

Apparently the scheme for which funding has been recently announced is called Gateway Plus. Time for a page move? DWaterson (talk) 14:44, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I have noticed this too. I am going to contact Birmingham City Council and Advantage West Midlands just to make sure it has been renamed. At the moment, I think it will need to be moved. I suspect this new name is to coincide with the redesign of the current plans. According to Midlands Today (Feb 12, 2008), the new architect will be announced next week although I am yet to find a source that says that same. - Erebus555 (talk) 15:01, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
And after a very swift reply from Birmingham City Council, it seems the project is now called Gateway Plus! I'll get on with moving the article and changing the wikilinks in articles. - Erebus555 (talk) 15:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
