[edit] Drama Club

Gateway High School's Drama Club has had its ups and downs over the past five to seven years. In 2003 the school was selected to bring their production of Little Shop of Horrors to Tampa to perform for the Florida State Thespians State Competition. The following year Clayton Guiltner took Anne Harris' position as the Theatre Instructor and continued to lead the evolution of the club, producing several highly successful productions, including Into the Woods," I Hate Hamlet," Honk!," and "The Love of Three Oranges." For the 07/08 school year Donald Rupe took his place as the troupe's director. Coincidentally, Donald Rupe graduated from Gateway High School in 2003, making him the youngest Drama Teacher in Gateway's history.

07/08 History: The Drama Department has finished its 07/08 season! The club began its production season with Charlotte's Web (November 29th-30th and December 1st) and continued its line up with The Nerd (February 29th) and Big River, (April 24th-26th). At District IE Competition, Gateway High School garnered 3 Best in Show Awards, as well as over 20 total "Superior" ratings. The club also attended the District One-Act competition where it received a "Superior" and "Best Ensemble" award. This was the first time the club attended one-act festival in several years. At State Festival in April the club received 4 "Superior" ratings. Director: Mr. Donald Rupe
