Gaslighting Abbie

"Gaslighting Abbie" is the first track on Steely Dan's 2000 Grammy Award-winning album Two Against Nature. The song is about a husband and his mistress plotting to drive his wife crazy. [1]

The term gaslighting is derived from the film Gaslight (1940 and 1944) in which a scheming husband tries to drive his wife insane by, among other things, manipulating the gaslight in their home.
